The U23B's were GE's intermediate-sized four-axle road switcher for the late 60's thru the mid 70's. The EMD GP38 was their prime competitor. THe U23B was the second best-seller. A handful can still be found working short lines and regional railroads across America. Primary spotting features include a stepped-out radiator section and two sets of three tall engine access doors near the center of the long hood. Features include analog PC Board with 8-pin NMRA plug; golden-white LEDs; cab style and truck sideframes will vary by roadname; snow plow (when appropriate); separately applied grab irons; five pole skewed armature motor with dual flywheels for optimum performance at all speeds; directional lighting; blackened metal wheels; and sturdy die-cast mainframe. #8260 and #8262 may also be available to allow for multiple locomotives running at once.
