Originally designed by the Reading Railroad in the 1920’s, the “northeastern” style caboose is recognized by its conservative center cupola and rugged, all-steel construction. These cabins were commonly found on railroads throughout the Mid-Atlantic region for many decades. Based on original drawings, the Northeastern Caboose offered by Lionel accurately recreates Reading’s influential NM class of 32-foot cabooses.
